Start with the contract
If the venue requires $1,000,000 per occurrence, that is your floor. Matching the written requirement is how you get the COI accepted.
Factors that influence limits conversations
- Guest count and crowd density
- Alcohol service
- Outdoor terrain and temporary structures
- High-value venue property
- Municipal permit minimums
Occurrence vs aggregate (plain language)
Policies may show per-occurrence and aggregate limits. Your venue packet usually specifies what they need to see on the certificate. If unclear, ask the venue for a sample COI or exact wording.
